The Ukulele group is a fun group for anyone with an interest in playing music and singing. To join the group you just need lots of enthusiasm as you will be made very welcome. There is proactive support to get you playing and joining in the fun.

If you can play an instrument then that’s great but many of the group joined with no previous experience and wanted to learn. There is no need to be able to read music as we use chord sheets and it doesn’t take long before you can fully join in and enjoy the music.

However for members who would like a little extra support we run absolute beginner sessions a couple of times a year.

To start we suggest just coming along and join in as we have a few ukuleles we can lend out during the sessions. just let the group leader know before coming if you would like to borrow a Uke. Talk to other members for a few sessions, make sure it’s for you, see what instruments others play before making a Uke purchase. There will be lots of advice about types and sizes of Ukes plus some suggestions where to buy one.

The group is very proactive in playing to a range of audiences from community centres to music festivals and even pubs. Everyone is encouraged to join in performing but it isn’t mandatory, however it is a lot of fun.
