Many aspects of History are covered. During the last year we looked at the creation and growth of Marks & Spencer; the local village of Diddington during WWII taken as a US Military Hospital - given by group members whose family had lived in the village. We have discussed the land-locked country of Armenia; Independence Day and the war in Ukraine; the Vatican City's development as the home for the Roman Catholic faith; William Shakespeare's private homes and looked at the life and times of Victor Hugo during his writing of 'Les Miserables'. Our recent July meeting, given by a Group Member, on the history of the Olympic Games looking at some of its political disruptions, its incentive to compete and the moments of disappointment and much glory over time.
